WWI on WWI

Transcendence found in bookstore! *Infinite transcendence* initiating...NOW! (Question: Here we see another way to infinity: the WWI is on the WWI, and then the WWI on the WWI could be on the WWI, etc. But is this an example of *infinite transcendence* or just *transcendence*? Is there a distinction? Teacher Jewels, take it from here!

Will, I really appreciated your post on the infinite. I recalled it while I was climbing the stairs back from putting my laundry in the washer trying in an infinite loop to get my mind to shut up for no reason.

  2. Jewels says:

Hello, Roberto. You should really read Sirach 33:4-5 (specially Sirach 33:5). …Read it, Roberto; you will understand.

  3. Jewels says:

Well, Will, I’m sorry to say that Teacher Jewels’ knowledge on *transcendence and/or infinite transcendence* is practically null… The closest intellectual encounter I remember having with the term “transcendence” probably occured during high school, after having read ever so small selections of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “Nature” (or was it “Self-Reliance”…?) and Henry David Thoreau’s “Walden” (…or perhaps “Civil Disobedience…?) I am forever indebted to Mrs. E. Rodríguez for having provided that these two names be assimilated and accommodated into my brain under the label “TRANSCENDENTALISTS”. Having lightly skimmed that file in my brain, I was only able to find words and phrases like [no offense intended, just giving you the general imppressions I was left with... and this is *certainly* not Mrs. Rodríguez's fault] “hippies”, “Rousseau”, “go green”, “canoening” (which I love, btw), and “nature-lovers”… :b

Jewels, you found it! Great job. Roberto, Sirach 33:4-5 says, “The prudent man trusts in the word of the LORD, and the law is dependable for him as a divine oracle.

Prepare your words and you will be listened to; draw upon your training, and then give your answer.

All: Don’t you think of the Matrix when you hear the word “oracle”? <…..correct use of quotation marks, as it corresponds to a word referring to a word.

    • Will says:

Jewels, we both seem to be out of our leagues when it comes to the topic of transcendentalism/ and maybe transcendence.

For me, transcendence means that which goes beyond the visible and material, that which points to the infinite as a reality, or the immaterial reality. For example, any time you can identify something that is greater than the sum of its parts, that is transcendence. For example, a plant was considered by Aristotle to have a “soul” (not an immortal soul, but a vegetative soul): a plant is more than what we see and touch, more than roots and shoots and leaves. A plant is a living and dynamic system. My photo within a photo simply pointed out that as human beings we can reflect upon ourselves reflecting upon ourselves reflecting, etc. to infinity. I think this is another type of transcendence. What do you think Roberto?

  5. Roberto says:

According to my sources (the internet):

33:5 The heart of a fool is as a wheel of a cart: and his thoughts are like a rolling axletree.

…which makes me think of the song Handsome Molly, when molly came riding by. I bet she had a rolling axletree.

And also, the song “A fool such as I”. I’m a fool.

  6. Jewels says:

Roberto: I didn’t mean to be rude… sorry; couldn’t help myself… Btw, are you also a figment of Will’s imagination? Nice to meet you! : D
Will: I’m still “preparing” a couple of words / “drawing upon my training” to *reply* to your ever so spiralling posts… dude, how can you keep up with yourself?!?! ;b
